Nokia 3606 review Reviews
Description
byThe Nokia 3606 is a mid level clamshell device that is designed with the average user in mind. In other words, the Nokia 3606 includes all of the features that the average consumer wants in a phone without any of the features which that consumer may not use. If you want a mildly attractive device with simple and basic features, the Nokia 3606 is for you – otherwise you may want to look elsewhere.
Announced in April 2008, the Nokia 3606 is a CDMA device. This means that it can only be used in the United States and a few other places in the world. Do not expect to be able to use this phone on trips to Europe, Asia, or anywhere else aside from the USA. Unfortunately, unlike most modern CDMA phones which make up for their lack of global support by including fast data transfers, the Nokia 3606 completely lacks 3G support. Instead, you are limited to slower 2G data transfers over the aging CDMA2000 network.
Measuring in at approximately three and a half inches by two inches by a half of an inch, the Nokia 3606 is a pretty small phone. It also weighs only 87 grams, making it one of the smallest and lightest clamshell phones currently available on the market.
Unfortunately, it looks as though the developers sacrificed battery life to make a small phone. Expect to get only three and a half hours of talk time or 240 hours of standby time on a single charge.
The Nokia 3606 features two screens, a main one on the inside of the phone and an external secondary display. The main screen measures two inches in size and has a resolution of 176 by 220 pixels and a color depth of 262k colors. The secondary screen measures 1.2 inches and has a resolution of 128 by 128 pixels and a similar color depth of 262k colors.
Also built into the Nokia 3606 is a 1.3 megapixel digital camera with an LED flash, but video is not supported. You can play MP3 files or use the built in FM radio receiver to listen to music. Memory is expandable via microSD cards.
Other features include Bluetooth 2.0 support, a 500-names capacity phone book, an alarm, a calendar, a stopwatch, a to-do list, a calculator, voice recording, and a speakerphone.
Pros
- Somewhat attractive
- Simple and light
- Low cost
Cons
- No 3G support
- Low end features
- Poor battery life
Overall
The Nokia 3606 is aimed only at the average consumer who just needs a phone to talk on. As a cheap, low cost device, the Nokia 3606 does not really bring anything new to the table. If you’re a Nokia clamshell fanatic looking for a basic phone, then this is the perfect phone for you. Otherwise, look elsewhere. Nokia 3606
